Complimentary placement for seniors

As we or our loved ones age, it’s not unusual to discover that we or our family members may need more assistance with day-to-day activities than was once the case. When we can no longer care for ourselves or seniors within the family, it may be time to find an appropriate placement where all of our needs can be met.

Relocating to a senior living facility or moving a beloved family member to one can be a very stressful event for everyone involved. At Tucson Senior Services (TSS), we understand how traumatizing losing one’s independence and leaving a comfortable home where a lifetime of memories have been made can truly be.

Identifying placement options, determining your specific needs or those of a family member, and matching the two can be quite time consuming. Additionally, it can be difficult if you don’t know what questions to ask or where to begin looking. That’s where TSS can help.

We know there are many types of senior care facilities to choose from. Each offers different services, has different personnel available to complete a variety of tasks, and the food service may also vary from place to place.

Tucson Senior Services can assist you with your placement search. Our experienced professionals can help you find the best facility to suit your needs or the needs of your senior family member. Whether you’re looking for an assisted living facility, memory care, skilled nursing, or a smaller senior care home, TSS is here to help match you with the greatest placement for your needs.

We provide placement services to our clients at no cost. If we successfully find the perfect match for you or your family member, the selected community compensates Tucson Senior Services with a commission.

What We Do for You

Through our placement services, TSS contacts local facilities in the greater Tucson area and throughout Pima County. We determine availability, visit the location, and find out if the services and care offered are the perfect fit for you!

With placement services by TSS, we handle the following for you or your aging loved one:

  • Meet with you and/or your family to determine your physical, social, emotional, and financial needs.
  • Identify options for independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing facilities, and senior care homes in your preferred area.
  • Determine whether the services offered meet your physical, social, emotional, and financial requirements as well as whether there is availability at each facility.
  • Visit facilities that match your needs and talk to staff to determine if the placement is the right fit for you.
  • Schedule tours for those facilities that do meet your individual needs and accompany you on your tour to help ensure all of your questions are answered.

We begin the process by meeting with you and/or your family member to discuss your needs from physical and emotional support to social goals. We also determine what your financial situation is so that we find something that meets your needs while taking your budget into consideration.

Once we understand what you need and the type of placement that you’re looking for, our experts begin the search for a facility with the right care to match your requirements. We will evaluate the location, services, personnel, and cost of each facility. We will even visit the facilities that best meet your needs before scheduling a tour for you.

After we have identified some good options that meet your individual criteria, we will schedule a tour of each facility for you. Our professionals will be with you every step of the tour to clarify information, ask questions you may not have thought about, and ensure that you get the details you need to make an informed decision.

These services cost you nothing. Our placement services are based on referrals from the facilities we recommend. This allows us to objectively evaluate facilities and make recommendations to best suite your needs with no cost to you.

Independent Living

Independent living is the ideal situation for seniors who wish to age in place and remain in their home throughout their lifetime. This is generally for seniors who are physically active and do not require assistance with day-to-day activities, but could use some extra help from time to time.

There are also many options for senior apartments, townhomes, and villas for those looking to live independently with some added services. Such services may include social activities, physical activities, volunteer opportunities, transportation, security, and more. Some such facilities even offer daily meal options.

These types of residential options allow you to live as independently as you wish with the ability to enjoy some services. You can even bring in your own home health services if you prefer and many allow pets.

When living independently, seniors may also find concierge services by Tucson Senior Services to be an ideal fit. The experienced professionals at TSS can assist with a wide variety of needs. Just visit our Concierge Services page by clicking on the button below.

Assisted Living Care Home

Another option available to seniors in need of support in their day-to-day activities is a care home. Care homes typically provide personal care in a residential setting with more personalized services. This is because the number of residents in a care home is typically capped to a smaller group of aging adults. As a result, the staff in most care homes are able to provide more personalized care and attention every day.

Assisted Living Facilities

If you or the senior in your life require some assistance with daily living, assisted living may be the answer you’ve been searching for. Assisted living care is long-term housing for seniors who may be relatively active but still need some help with daily tasks such as medication management, personal grooming, meal preparation, and cleaning.

There are many options for assisted living facilities within the greater Tucson area. Such adult care facilities typically provide support for the activities of daily living (ADLs). This may include assistance with dressing, toileting, bathing, eating, and medication management among other services. Assisted living facilities typically provide three meals a day in addition to recreational and social activities so you can continue to enjoy life to the fullest while ensuring your personal needs are met.

Memory Care

Memory care facilities specialize in working with seniors who are suffering with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory issues. Memory care residences are often part of larger communities but may also be stand-alone facilities. They are secured facilities that ensure the safety of residents so they don’t wander off or get lost while meeting their daily living needs.

The staff at memory care facilities provide specialized care for seniors living with memory issues from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia to other memory problems. They often aspire to promote a sense of belonging while working to preserve a sense of self for their residents.

The health of memory care residents is closely monitored and programs, activities, and events are designed to promote a sense of wellbeing for every resident despite their memory issues or level of disease progression. Trained staff are on hand 24-hours-a-day throughout the year to provide specialized care.

Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing facilities provide housing and long-term care for seniors with physical or mental health conditions. In addition, skilled nursing facilities also typically provide short-term rehabilitation programs following a hospitalization due to illness or injury.

In a skilled nursing facility, residents will find a wide range of services in addition to medical care. Skilled nursing facilities often offer many services including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Pathology
  • Wound Care
  • Intravenous (IV) Therapy
  • Monitoring of Vital Signs
  • Medical Equipment

There are many specialists that are typically employed within skilled nursing facilities. Such specialists may include:

  • Medical Directors
  • Audiologists
  • Registered Nurses
  • Geriatric Specialists
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Licensed Vocational Nurses
  • Speech and Language Pathologists

Such skilled nursing facilities must have transfer agreements with local hospitals in the event a resident requires emergency care. This ensures that if you or a loved one take a turn for the worse, the immediate, emergent care required will be provided.
